I live in Katy, TX where I graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in psychology a few years ago. I currently work with the YMCA and spend most of my days dealing with kids who don't know how to use indoor voices. Aside from posting on here from time to time, I'm also on Twitter if you go there. Same user name as this place. Easier for me that way.
A big thanks to
rehime for my FO banner. (Even if we aren't talking anymore.)
I'm major movie watcher and my greatest wish is to either get into the entertainment industry or psychology. I have met Stephen Colbert, Jason Jones and Wyatt Cenac all on my third trip to New York. Seen Jon Stewart in his own studio and walking the street near his studio. Watched John Oliver do his show. And drove to Austin, TX and back to see Rob Riggle. I still have yet to meet Steve Carell though. Yeah, that would be nice.
Recently, I've also met Jonathan Coulton and Weird Al (who signed my ticket).
Now will saying "yes" get you in trouble at times? Will saying "yes" lead you to doing some foolish things? Yes it will. But don't be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don't learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying "yes" begins things. Saying "yes" is how things grow. Saying "yes" leads to knowledge. "Yes" is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say "yes." - Stephen Colbert
We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless--of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse." That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be? - John Keating
I've seen this done on TV. -Famous Last Words
